The game is fast and fun - for anyone that can spell. My adult children thought it would be boring but to my delight agreed with me that it is great. We even played around with the rules and made up new ones. Made the game hilarious.

Top Banana

A colleague of my husband brought this to work for everyone to play at lunchtime. He had so much fun with it, we ordered one for our home. It has been a big hit with kids (ages 5 and over -- some needed a little bit of help), with grandparents, and with everyone else. I have now given two as gifts, and have another on hand for an emergency gift. This game is destined to become a classic!

On a recent cruise we watched several young people in our group playing this game...it looked like a great way to exercise the brain, flex those vocabulary muscles, and entertain a group of both young and old. Upon our return home I started looking on line to find the game which we now have and are thoroughly enjoying...a great addition to family game night or keeping the grandchildren occupied.

A great game for intermediate to advanced readers/spellers
Posted 1/13/2009

This is a great spelling and vocabulary game. My second grader loves it, though it takes quite awhile for him to form enough words to use all of his letters. My kindergartner is just learning to spell, and plays for awhile but it is really too advanced for that age. My husband and I have a lot of fun with it too - it's a fun twist on Scrabble and moves very quickly with proficient spellers. The game itself has simple rules that are easy to follow and is high quality.

This is a great game that my kids love to play (ages 12-17)
The grandparents also love this game so it its a great way to bring the generations together. I also ordered one for my daughters teachers to use as a teaching aide and indoor recess day game. My daughter uses them to study her spelling words also (hands on learner)

My adult daughter and I love playing Bananagrams. The letter tiles are easy to read and the banana case is perfect for traveling. When we get together we play 4-8 games at a sitting. We are finding that we have so much fun challenging each other on words and then looking them up in the dictionary. Being a retired teacher, I like it because we don't have to count points and everyone is actively involved in playing at the same time. I can see this working in classrooms to encourage spelling and increase vocabulary. I have bought several Bananagrams and have given them away to relatives just for fun!

My family loves the game. You can make up any version depending on the skills of the players. It is easily portable and a great party game. One of the best features is that you do not have to take turns, each player can move at their own pace. I highly recommend this game.

Bananagrams Review
Posted 8/22/2008 by Erin McWilliams

Rating:

What a great, easy, and educational game for children to play! As a teacher, my new set of Bananagrams is hanging out in our "Rainy Day Games" box and will certainly go to great use! This game really equires hands-on and minds-on thinking in a creative and engaging way. Children will find themselves working on spelling and word use without really even trying! I especailly love that children will be playing against one another but in a very independent and less competitve way. On top of that, all of the fun banana related terms give it an extra little flare of fun! What a great tool and toy!

Bananagrams

Rating:

This is a fun variation on Scrabble type games. It is a faster moving game that can be played in a shorter time period. It can be played by two or by several people or even as a solitaire game. As a teacher, I can see this game in classrooms as well as at home. It is very portable so it would be easy to take on trips.

Bananagrams are Delicious
Posted 7/6/2008

Rating:

Bananagrams has become a family addiction. Our daughter-in-law introduced my husband and me to the game and purchased it for us. We love it so much it has begun to replace Scrabble. We bought Bananagrams for my step-daughter and her family and, now, they're addicted. The game is fast paced, challenging, helps you see patterns, teaches that there are more than one or even two ways to solve a problem. Were I still teaching, I would definitely have Bananagrams in my arsenal!

I bought this game as a gift for my mother who is a big word game person. She loves it! In fact, she brings it with her (and loves the ease of portability) when she is being a Big Sister to a 9 yr-old boy with ADHD. He also enjoys playing this game. We've also played it together as a family and have a really great time.

We are really enjoying this product! We have two grandchildren, ages 8 and 10, who were familiar with Scrabble, so they took to this game right away. It goes faster than a full game of Scrabble, and it also offers a more unstructured play for each player's turn.
We like it so much, we bought two other sets as gifts.

What a great activity-filled game! The contestants are primarily racing against themselves and all at one time. Word recognition skills are encouraged in such a fun way!

Bananagrams is a great game to take with you while on vacation or to play at home. Several people can play at their own pace. Both young and old alike will enjoy this word game. It not only helps the little ones build their spelling skills but it sharpens everyones vocabulary.

Review of Bananagrams

Rating:

Bananagrams is totally awesome! It is fun, intelligent, challenging, and most importantly adaptable so almost any age can play. The core of the game is so simple that we can change the rules slightly for the younger players at the table to level the playing field against the adults. This way we can all play the game at the same time and still individually be challenged. There aren't many games like that! It is also a really nice tool to help everyone with vocabulary and have fun at the same time!

Bananagrams is Great!

Rating:

Wonderful, fast moving game. We are Scrabble fans and this is a nice break from the slow moving pace of Scrabble with much of the same word creativity and competition of Scrabble. The game tiles are made of a nice smooth plastic that has some weight so the play has a pleasant tactile character and the little banana pouch is cool.

We love this game! It is similar to Scrabble, but much faster paced and without all of the scoring involved. A single game can be played in less than 10 minutes! I highly recommend Bananagrams.
