Brain Food

I bought the Brain Food - Sunburst for my son, but we all play with it. It is a great sensory toy and provides my son with something to do in the car or anywhere he needs to be sit still. It is easily changed from one shape to the next and the fact that it changes colors is just an added bonus.

Brain Food - Somewhat disappointed
Posted 11/18/2008 by Terry Gonzalez

Rating:

The children I work with love Brain Food. We were somewhat disappointed with the Twilight color because on the website it looked sparkly and more purple. It is neither sparkly or purple, but very much plain blue, similar to Lapis which we purchased a while back.
Thank you for the opportunity to give feedback.
Terry

Information about Brain Food

Rating:

i would agree with one reviewer who said that this appears to be "glorified silly putty", HOWEVER, my 8 year old and 4 year old boys have gotten this toy out EVERYDAY since they got it about 10 days ago! We got this for my four year old for his birthday, and they are currently playing with the Lapis and Scarab colors. I am going to give my 8 year old the amber (glow in the dark) color for his birthday (which i suspect may be even more popular than the other two). and i may even consider buying more. I would not recommend this toy for anyone younger than 4, because if they press it into their clothes, it may be a "sticky" situation. the only reason that i gave it 4 stars out of five is that it is a bit pricey for such a small package (it looks like it would cost much less). But this is a great toy that my kids are really enjoying (especially like to play with it on cookie sheets for some reason), and best of all, it does not require batteries!

My kids like this putty and enjoy playing with it. It's very beautiful in color and there is quite a bit there to play with. It very similar to other putty on the market. I think the price is a tad high for the product, but we are satisfied with our purchase.

This has intrigued the kids and adults in our family. They enjoy molding it and watching it "melt" into itself. Unique and interesting toy.

A rating of Brain Food

I bought the Super Magnetic Brain Food as a gift for my ten year old grandson. He could not keep his hands off of it. Everyone that saw it wanted to play with it. We were all a little disappointed that it was not truly magnetic as the name would have you believe, however it will stick to the front of a file cabinet or the fridge with a little applied pressure. Over all I still give it four stars.

Everyone at the offsite event were envious of the Brainfood. I had to order more that night and I will be delivering it to their offices later next week. It is a great fidget toy for office meetings

I got Brain Food for my niece and gave it to her while our 2 families were vacationing together. Not only did the kids love this but the adults couldn't get enough turns at using it either. As soon as we got home I had to order more!

Maybe Sort Of Magnetic

I've purchased Brain Food before. The kids I work with (who range in age from 6-22) love it! The Super Magnetic version has the same cool texture and consistency, but when we tried it up against a number of things it should attract, it only attracted some of them. It worked the best when stretched to a very thin strand--then it seemed to attract paper clips best. Still great fun to play with, but not super-magnetic.

Review for Brain Food

I purchased the Amber glow in the dark as well as the twilight versions of brain food. Upon receipt of the products I believe that the glow in the dark version was the better buy. The twilight only changes from purple to blue, and after playing with it for any length of time the whole thing will be blue. I was very impressed with the quality of both of the products and they provoke a great deal of creativity.

Brain Food - Twilight

I bought this toy for my two sons who both have sensory integration issues. Thought neither of them like "slimy" textures, they both loved the putty texture. They didn't mention much about sparkles or color changes, but really liked to "make strings" and swirl the strings on the table.
I'm very satisfied with this product.

Brain Food
Posted 5/11/2009

Rating:

Bought this as a gift for my 7 year old grandson's birthday. I opened it as soon as the box from Fat Brain Toys arrived so that I could check it out. I was a little disappointed at first by the amount of putty in the tin, but as I began to squish it around, I found it to be just the right size. It doesn't glow in the dark right away, but must be exposed to light first. It was the most popular toy at the party! The kid's wouldn't put it down, and if one did, the next kid picked it up right away. Love the storage tin.

Black Magnetic Version Hard to Mold
Posted 4/2/2009 by Linda Lankowski
- CO-WORKER

Rating:

Setting: Office

The putties (I bought at least one of each) were fought over, and we're having fun with this stress reliever. The black Super Magnetic putty is pretty hard to mold, squeeze, shape, etc. (Maybe because of whatever makes it magnetic?) The only person in the office who liked this one is a 23 year old man. The women didn't have a strong enough grip. The magnetic putty is not excessively magnetic. We spent quite some time trying to make it stick to our desks. You have to have just the right amount of putty to make it work. Too little and there's not enough adhesion, too much putty and it's not strong enough to hold its own weight.

This product was purchased for my grandchildren (ages 6 and 8) along with the magnetic fish sculpture to entertain them on a long plane ride and vacation. Although they have not received it yet, I have had great fun playing with it myself and expect them to enjoy it, too.

Fun gift!

We gave this as a gift to our 5-year-old nephew who has a great natural curiosity. Our nephew has had a lot of fun playing with the putty in general, but especially likes seeing it glow in the dark. We gave him both the glow in the dark and magnetic putty and while he does like the magnetic putty, he prefers the glow in the dark putty. I would definitely buy the glow in the dark putty again.

Brain Food
Posted 5/7/2009 by Yvonne L. Wuamett

Rating:

Expensive and totally non-exciting. 1/5 of a can of putty with an exotic name and little else. (Note from Fat Brain Toys: Always wanting happy customers, we contacted Yvonne to see if we might be able to provide a replacement item or a refund. Turns out her granddaughter loves the Brain Food! She wants to order more!)

Great stuff!!
Posted 30 days ago by Ruth Y

Rating:

I had no idea how popular this would be with our 3 and 5 year olds. They split up the can and play and play with it. It has gotten on their clothes, the couch, changing table, etc. But has come out fairly easily. It has provided a lot of creative and hands-on opportunities for them.

Brain Food Is A Fun Time-Waster
Posted 6/18/2008 by Sharon Chandler

Rating:

Setting: Home

The Brain Food has been fun when there are a few minutes to kill. It is especially handy when waiting for other people. I keep mine on the dining room table. I play with it when I am waiting for things. The kids play with it while waiting for dinner. It doesn't hold it's shape very long. Our creations constantly melt back into a glob. However, this may be due to the heat. I think it is cool that it doesn't stay, it keeps you making new things rather than just looking at something you already made. Kind of smells funny, but most putty products do. I have already bought some as a gift for someone else, and I would probably do so again. The Electric Blue - Lapis isn't as sparkly as the color description says, but it is pretty and fun to play with. I think the Hypercolor ones would be even more fun.

This was a gift for a 8 year old girl. She is thoroughly enjoying it.
She's having opportunities to make silly/fun creations, that "melt away," allowing her to create something new. A good item that I'd purchase again.

The product itself is really cool. It is a very durable putty with great color. I would want more directions included on what NOT to do with it - since it got stuck to fabric and I do not know how to remove it.

Review of Brain Food
Posted 4/14/2009 by Laura Schmitz

Rating:

We have all really enjoyed the Brain Food. It is perhaps glorified silly putty and more expensive, but you get about three times as much. This was very nice because, in my experience, anytime you see someone playing with it - you want to play with it yourself! My three year old son, myself and my husband all happily played with chunks of it. Our son mainly gave us instructions for what to mold for him! The container was very sturdy and won't be easily misplaced or broken.
