Neat, Must Make A Lot Of Bricks To Make A Wall
Posted 7/17/2008 by Tonya B

I bought the Construct-A-Kingdom set and the extra brick set for a vacation to the beach. I have two kids and wanted each to be able to make a brick at the same time. The concept of the brick set is really cool. You fill the brick with water and then sand and then suction pump out the water. This makes a nice compact brick. The drawback is that to make anything out of bricks, you would need to spend half a day just making bricks. My kids (ages 4 and 6) only had the patience for about 10 bricks. It took 3-5 minutes for them to make a single brick. To make a wall, we found it a lot easier to use the brick holder and free shape a wall out of sand. Then we would connect to the tower mold. The tower works better then the typical bucket mold; however, it takes some practice to get a good mold. The shovel is a very sturdy and decent sized (probably 4 inches across). If I were purchasing again, I would buy the Construct-A-Castle set instead. This product gave us ideas to build a cool sand castle even if we don't use all the parts. Older children might have better luck with the bricks.

It took a little experimenting but after some trial and error, this worked great. It made awesome towers and the bricks built a great wall. Before our next vacation, I will buy the "add-on" kit with the differing sized bricks to expand our building possibilities. Definitely a step above the average sand castle molds. Our only problem was the cheap bag that ripped after the second day on the beach. It needs a better quality mesh bag.

We live in the Middle East on the gulf which means lots of beach time! So far, we have created some awesome kingdoms and it has provided hours of fun! The plastic is thick and durable and not likely going to break! Great product and I think we'll order the castle builder as well!

A very clever concept. My children were excited at the idea of building the bricks. As a practical matter, the product is far too complicated and involved to use or enjoy. Building a sand castle should not feel so much like hard work.

Sand Castle Heaven

Very nice item. Fun at the beach! Make sure you allow sand to sit in molds (but not too long) to maintain shapes.

We made the best sand castle on the beach. Towards the end of the week I had to clean out the screen several times so that the water could be pumped out of the sand. I think I had more fun with it than the kids. hahaha
