Melissa and Doug puzzles are a great learning toy. Some of the sounds are a little obnoxious to adults having to listen to them over and over again, and the sounds can be activated by an inappropriate piece being passed over a slot. But, my 21 month-old grandson loves these puzzles and they are a great therapeutic asset to him in developing normal fine motor skills on his weaker left side. These puzzles were recommended by his Occupational Therapist and I plan to buy more for his birthday.

This puzzle is very entertaining for kids. I love the sound effects and the colors. My only complaint is that no matter which puzzle piece you put in the hole the animal makes a sound. I would like it if the puzzle only made a sound if the correct piece was place in the hole. For example, if I put the snake piece over the lion hole the lion will growl. I think it would help kids know the purpose of puzzles if the lion only growled if the lion piece is placed correctly.
