Review for Globe 4 Kids - Illuminated
Posted 8/14/2008 by Pamela L. Rodriguez

Rating:

My 3 and 5 year old daughters love the globe - especially that it lights up. Having landmarks indicated (like a drawing of the Eiffel Tower) helps them identify and understand even better the different locations.

Review of Globe 4 Kids - Illuminated

Rating:

Nice product for a very young child. The night light feature is nice but just understand what this is before purchasing. It's rather small and doesn't have a ton of detail on the maps (individual states not labelled, etc.). You have to tip it upside down to see the bottom.

Just Okay
Posted 4/17/2008 by Tracy Archuleta

Rating:

We were not thrilled with the globe, but it was okay. Some distinction of states within the US would have been nice, but it might have been too cramped with the images too. The light bulb is very easy to access and change.

My rating of Globe 4 Kids - Illuminated
Posted 3/6/2008 by Beverly A. Baridon

Rating:

What a beautiful globe! I can even learn from it as a middle-aged grandma! It is lit up and so easy to identify countries and continents!
I highly recommend this globe to any parent who wants to teach their 5-year old (and up) geography! It is the best ultimate tool for my granddaughter to learn so many aspects of geography,

Kids Globe

Rating:

Not a lot of detail. The light bulb only lasted about 5 minutes before it burned out. But, the bulb was easy to change. For the price it's not bad. My son loves it. I guess that's all that counts.

Good

Rating:

I bought this for my 4-year-old grandson. For some time he has been interested in the moon and the planets, and recently he has been asking questions about the earth and about maps. This product proved to be a great way to respond to his curiosity. It is appropriate for his age, not too detailed yet incorporating interesting facts about different areas around the world. The illuminated globe is a good feature, serving as a night light. A plus is that it does not rely on batteries.

Nice Globe for 5 Year Old
Posted 1/2/2008 by Don

Rating:

This is an attractive globe having internal illumination and an on/off switch on the power cord. It shows some of the unique animal life associated with the various regions of the world. My 5 year old likes it.

Globe 4 Kids-Illuminated
Posted 12/27/2007 by Cheri Pilant

Rating:

I bought this globe for my 6 year old twin granddaughters. I absolutely refuse to buy anything not made in the USA. The girls loved to find the countries on the globe, and also the animals and plants indigenous to those countries. They like to turn off the lights and see it glow. They use it for a night light till they fall asleep. Mom turns it off. I am as happy with the purchase as the girls are.

My rating of Globe 4 Kids - Illuminated
Posted 12/22/2007 by Clarice

Rating:

My Grandson just turned 4, he's constantly questioning the world and his place in it. The first thing he looked for was the state of Tennessee (in which he lives) which is not on the North American Continent. Also when illuminated there is a line (we thought it to be the equator but is not) circling the globe where it was connected but not perfectly. It will not interfere with his learning. but we thought you should know as this is supposed to be the Cadillac of globe makers.

Interesting, Educational and Well-made
Posted 11/2/2007 by Eva Mineva-Jones

Rating:

We have family members on 4 continents. My 3 year old boy has visited all of them and knows they live far away. The globe gives him context on the places he has been. We have glued tiny pictures of the different family members on the places where they live and he can see exactly where he has been, where he is going, and why it takes a long time to get there. He also had difficulty in understanding what happened to the light and where the dark went every morning and evening. With the addition of a desktop light and the globe spinning, he now understands is so proud! We get additional value in figuring out where different animals live, the difference between a sea and an ocean. I expect this type of value to increase as my son grows.

My nephew loved it! I didn't realize it lights up so it was even more of a good surprise for him. He's replaced his night light with the globe!

I am indifferent in regards to this globe. I am not unhappy or happy with it. I feel it could have been assembled a bit better. The two halves don't match up completely so you can see light shining through the middle of the globe.

Rating:

Although the grandchildren have not had a chance to play with the globe, Granny and Granddad have... and we think it is great. Very educational, fun, and good quality. We are also pleased that it is not made in China, but in the U.S.A.

This is a good looking and accurate globe. The line where the two halves are joined is too wide in places. So an uneven white line appears part of the way around the globe at the equator when the globe is illumunated.

Impossible To Read Globe
Posted 12/12/2007 by Ann Marie

Rating:

While cool looking, it was impossible to decipher the city, country etc. the writing is garbled, tiny and overcrowded. (Note from Fat Brain Toys: Reviewing our inventory of this product, we find writing clear in terms of city & country names. When lit it may be more difficult to read. We offered our customer the option to return the globe for another product.)

Light Up Globe - Great

My 5 year old godson loved it, and immediately set it up in his room. His Mom told me that he is also using it as a night light - the glow from the globe is soft and not intrusive. Great product!

The globe is perfect for our 3 year old. I am happy that individual states are not outlines, would be too much detail for my toddler. I also love the animals and other "important facts".

Globe for Toddler
Posted 4/4/2007 by G. Ferrer

Rating:

The Globe 4 Kids Illuminated was perfect for our purpose. I am the mother of a 2 year old girl. I will start traveling internationally and needed something to explain to our 2 year old about places I will visit. It had to be fun and something she can relate to. My daughter immediately took interest when she saw the whales in the ocean, animals in the different countries and faces in different nations. The illuminated globe worked as her night light too! Now, my 2 year old can point the state we live and faces and animals in countries I will be traveling. Never underestimate a toddler with their learning abilities.

The globe was smaller than anticipated; however, this is probably better for small hands and will take up less space. The light seems to draw curiosity from the 5 and 2 1/2 yr. old boys. They liked the animals they could see.

A perfect first globe for kids. The pictures really add a lot.

Bright!
Posted 3/27/2007 by Fatiha B.

Rating:

My daughter loves it. She understands the concepts of flying to move from a place to another and how long it takes, how far it can be. She likes the logos representing countries or cities (Eiffel Tower for France, Statue of Liberty for NYC, Pyramids for Egypt). This is a good way for kids to better understand and expand their vision of the world we live in. The light is a bit too dark and when you move the globe you need to keep a hand holding it, because it does not stand still. Maybe it needs a heavier foot.

Great conceptual globe. If you're looking for a detailed globe with all countries and states, this is not the product for you, but for a great globe for youngsters, this is it.

This was a birthday gift for my 7 year old nephew. My only issue with the gift is that apparently after it was plugged in for the 2nd time, something went haywire in the electrical plug. Replacing the light bulb did not work and my sister had to follow up with Fat Brain Customer Service to get a new plug. (Your customer service deparment was helpful.) Thank You

Rating:

I am a little disappointed in the size and construction of the globe. (It is more "plastic" than I expected.) This seems almost like a toy. I debated returning it, but have decided to keep it. I bought it as a Christmas gift for my 5 year-old grandson. I'm sure he'll be delighted, but I am concerned about how this globe will hold up.

The illustrations are great and so easy to understand. The lighting produced is very nice and is easily accessible. My only complaint is that the material is not as sturdy as I imagined.

From a Mom
Posted 7/18/2006 by Karen M

Rating:

My 4 year old has always expressed interest in maps, so we thought that this would be the perfect birthday gift for him. I looked at several different globes on the Internet, but this one seemed ideal for his age. It was also a reasonable price for an illuminated globe. Now that we have it, we know that we made the right choice - the images are age-appropriate (he especially loves the sharks!) He tells us that he loves it because he has "adventures" all over the world as he falls asleep at night after prayers. A good buy.
