Good product for teenager with passionate interest in architecture and building/planning/landscaping. Needs a few more pieces such as siding. Uncomplicated, hands-on, tactile learning to develop spatial learning.

I'm not sure what the age rating is for this "toy" but it's definitely something that will need adult input to get it going...in fact a lot of adult guidance will be necessary. I purchased this for myself (42 yrs old) and I find it's more of a professional level tool for house model building. My expectations were greatly exceeded for this - I was blown away! However, I think only a child with a LOT of patience is going to be able to handle this.
Good for grown-ups too

We got the 3-D home kit to do mock-ups of planned home remodeling projects. We knew we'd have to knock out walls and the kit seemed like a great way to visualize results before we started using a sledge hammer. For us, the kit worked as it was intended because we have a drawer full of exacto knives, good straightedges and glue from other projects, but if you didn't have that sort of thing, or hadn't done much cut-and-paste work, the kit might be sort of daunting. For us, though, it was great.

This is a great product. We visited Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater, and it peaked our son's interest in architecture. He's reading about Wright's teachings, and wants to design a house using these materials. Great for kids who are detail-oriented and ready to visualize their ideas in 3D.

The kit is really cool, I bought it for my brother who is into building things and he loves it. I didn't buy the extra instruction guide as he likes to build independently and that worked out great. He really likes the kit and has been building for days now. He is thirteen and at what I feel to be the perfect age for this type of toy. It's a little too sophisticated for my 11 year old brother.
