Dado combines art and science as you explore architectural principles . . . proportion, balance, structure and color. A new twist on classic building blocks, Dado engages your imagination as the slits on each cube are interlocked to create an unlimited number of three-dimensional structures. Constructed horizontally, vertically or nested together, Dado invites visual spatial development and problem solving through design-centered, attention-grabbing fun!
Loaded with educational benefits
Each set features 10 cubes, scaled from 1 inch to 5 inches, capable of building structures over 32 inches high!
Durable, heavy gauge plastic construction
Developed, manufactured, and assembled right here in the USA!
Dado is Special...and Spatial!
Visual Spatial Learning has captured the attention of scientists and educators
as being highly valuable in child development. Visual Spatial Play refers to the
ability to mentally picture things and is characterized by the ability to
appreciate patterns & form in very large or small areas of space. Children with
profuse Visual Spatial Intelligence can construct three-dimensional mental
images and visual them from multiple perspectives. A keen eye for form,
design, color, size, shape and space enables these gifted children to
create realistic representations of real world images.
Dado is Simple...Simple Design that Inspires Complex Thought
In Tom West's book, In the Mind's Eye, he suggests that in the 21st Century,
strong visual skills will be crucial elements to success: "Ready recognition of
larger patterns, intuition, a sense of proportion, imaginative vision, the original and
unexpected approach, and the apt connection between apparently unrelated things...". Through Dado's simple shapes and intuitive system of construction, people of all ages find Dado engaging.
Dado is a Favorite Toy of Children...a Favorite Tool of Professionals
Employed by Occupational Therapists: "Dado helps children improve fine motor skills, including hand strength, finger dexterity and coordination of small muscle movements. With mastery of the movements required to fit the cubes together, children take obvious pride in their creative constructions. Psychosocially, children develop skills as they share ideas and talk about their play goal." Elizabeth Paskar, Occupational Therapist, Missouri
Endorsed by Classroom Teachers: "The open-ended nature of Dado Cubes, their unique groove-connecting assembly, and the challenge of achieving the highly desired perfect balance draw children in. As my students are busy building, talking through their plans and making adjustments, I am amazed by their critical thinking and problem solving skills." Stacy Coulter, Kindergarten Educator, Kansas
Valuable in Ongoing Visual Spatial Research: "In my work with visual-spatial children in various corners of the world, I have found that one distinguishing feature is their ability to visualize in multiple dimensions. Many visual-spatial learners speak of 4- and 5-dimensional mental images! Dado Cubes would offer these individuals, young and old, a hands-on way of demonstrating what their incredible minds are able to see and create. For children who lack such ability, this wonderful new toy may help them to expand their understanding of dimensionality, viewing their world from a unique perspective!" I bought these because my 14- month- old girl likes "nesting" toys, and I thought these would be right up her alley. She does like the blocks, especially when they are stacked on the pyramid plastic part of their packaging. The packaging is great for keeping them organized, and it helps the blocks fall in the right direction when she nests them. She seems interested in the shapes and colors, and has managed a few times to connect the blocks with the slits. She always is eager when I pull out these blocks and even brings them to me to open for her. These seem durable, and I'm sure they'll last her a long time. For now they are getting pretty good action, and I hope when she gets a little older, she will be able to learn new tricks with them. I can see her still playing with these in a couple of years. Keep in mind these blocks are meant for older children. The littlest cube could be a choking hazard. It should probably be saved for later, or a toddler playing with these should be closely supervised.

Excellent stimulation for "kids" of all ages! The littlest ones just love nesting the cubes, and the biggest ones enjoy creating innovative building designs. These cubes are sturdy and will last a long time!

We got the Dado Cubes for my friend's almost one year old son. He totally loves them and is working on nesting the cubes. It keeps him occupied longer than most of his other toys.
